Travel Diary: Author - Yumi
We had 2 days in San Francisco and they were very nice sunny weather which was unusual for that area.(^o^)丿
We went to a wine tasting as we had planed. We walked up to the event venue from downtown. We had the option to take a cable car, but we had to wait for an hour to get a ride, so we walked instead.
On the way up there, we stopped by a steak house and ate a burger and fries. Since we received some direction from visiting the toursit center, we wen through the China Town which doesn’t have a lot of peaks and valleys like other streets. As we passed Chinatown, the road led to Italian district. There were a lot of Italian restaurants with nice patios. We saw a lot of Italian flags on the pole everywhere. It was funny to see that sudden change. We kept walking, when we finally got to the venue, there were a lot of people were enjoying wine already.
We bought tickets and got wine glasses.(^^♪
We had a lot of different types of wine and forgot about the sun shine…Although wine tasting is very slow and each amount is very little, we were getting a little drunk. We really enjoyed the wine. We had a very small seminar where we learnt how to match wine and chocolate. Bitter wine goes well with dark chocolates and sweet wine goes with milk chocolates. I don’t have a sense of testing, so I didn’t agree with that. Hmm….
We went to a gallery of Salvador Dali and saw his art work and walked around a little bit. We found a Hooters and had beer there because we had so much wine and our stomoch said we needed some beer to refreshen ourselves.
I love Hooters because there are lots of cute girls wearing very tight boodie shorts and tank tops. The best thing is their boobs are huge(^^ゞ
This area of San Francisco is also famous for fresh seafood. We found that a guy was cooking a lot of crubs out side. They looked so delicious. We kept hanging aruond and we tried and take a tour to Arcatraz, but unfortunately the last tour just left. We went back to downtown to have dinner after that.
We took a differnet route to go back. We saw a lot of pretty houses in San Francisco. They are colorful and they are standing adjacent each other without any space even on a steep grade. We saw a winding road from the distance. Kyle told me that he had never seen it before so I suggested we go there but Kyle just said no. It was I that wanted to see it… (-_-;)
It was about 6 oclock when we arrived downtown. The Jazz bar that Kyle’s friend recommended was not open yet, we went to another pub to kill time and relaxed there while having a beer. The interior was very cool. There were some other group of people who were drinking, chatting and dancing.
We were hungry when we finished the beer, we went out of the bar and looked for a restaurant that was very American. We could not find a dinner place, but we just found a sports bar so we went in and had some beer and calamari. It was American sized calamari. We enjoyed a huge amount of calamari and beer and we headed out. We walked and looking for a place to eat dinner and we finnaly found a Dinner restaurant which looked like a place started in the 60s. We had chicken wings and beer, it was ok. Right after we had dinner, we headed back to the hotel. We decided not to go to the Jass bar that Kyle’s friend recommended because we were too tired.
We stayed at the Sheraton Hotel which was gorgeous and comfortable. We loved it. Kyle heard my screaming in the bathroom right after we went in our room. I came out from the bathroom and took Kyle’s hand and we went into bathroom again and we saw two red faces in the mirror. We were sunburnt at the wine tasting event! We enjoyed ourselves too much and forgot about the risk of getting too much suntan or sun burn… I was especially upset because we were planning to go to an important temple service the next day.
Anyway, we had a temple service as we planned but we were careful not to be sun burnt again although it was a bit too late. And after the service, we went back to Vancouver with Alaska Airlines. It was very nice short trip except for the sun burnt.
